Adolescent Life Coaching is about MENTORING and CHALLENGING teenagers as they attempt to meet their needs and goals. This process includes helping adolescents identify the following five life pathways:
1. DEFINING: Who am I?
2. ACCEPTANCE: Do I like myself?
3. BELONGING: Am I cared for?
4. CONTRIBUTION; Do I count?
5. BELIEVING: What is faith?
During the early coaching sessions, these needs and goals are established. The coach will be very active in helping the teenager align him/herself with appropriate goals. Once the vision for life change has been created, the coach will help the adolescent develop healthy PATTERNS that will reinforce the teenager's life goals.
The three necessary patterns for growth are:
UNDERSTANDING:
Discovering personal insights and why these are important
PRACTICING:
Learning how to master life skills and monitoring the progress
WANTING:
Developing a mindset of self-control and managing these desires
